Refinish, reface or replace?
| Option | What changes | Typical cost | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refinishing | Colour and finish. Your doors, your boxes. | $2,500 – $6,500 | 4 – 7 days |
| Refacing | New doors and veneered box fronts. | $6,000 – $14,000 | 1 – 2 weeks |
| Replacement | Everything, including plumbing and counters. | $20,000+ | 4 – 10 weeks |
If your cabinets are solid wood and the doors are not falling apart, refinishing is almost always the right answer. Ninety per cent of the visual impact of a new kitchen for a quarter of the cost.
How we do it
- Colour session. We bring samples and spray a test door in your kitchen light before anything else happens. Kitchen light lies — a colour that looked right in the showroom often does not.
- Doors and drawer fronts come off, are labelled, and go back to our Dover shop.
- In the shop: degrease, repair, sand, prime, and spray in a controlled booth. No brush marks, no dust nibs, no fumes in your house.
- In your kitchen: the boxes and face frames are masked and hand-sprayed on site with containment.
- Rehang with adjusted hinges and, if you want them, new handles and soft-close hardware.
Your kitchen stays usable throughout. You lose your cabinet doors for a few days, not your kitchen.

The same process works on bathroom vanities, laundry rooms, mudroom lockers, home-office built-ins, bookcases and wet bars. If it is wood and it is attached to your house, we can finish it.
Common questions
How much does it cost to refinish kitchen cabinets in New Jersey?
Most Morris County kitchens land between $2,500 and $6,500 depending on the number of doors, the finish, and how much repair is needed. Small kitchens can come in under $2,500; large kitchens with an island and pantry run higher. We quote by the linear foot after counting doors and drawers.
Can you paint oak cabinets white?
Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do. Oak has open grain, so if you want a completely smooth painted surface we grain-fill first. We will show you both options on a test door — some people like the grain showing through, some do not.
How long will my kitchen be out of action?
It is not. You keep the use of your kitchen throughout; you are just without cabinet doors for four to seven days while they are in our shop.
Is spraying better than brushing?
For cabinets, yes. A sprayed finish has no brush marks and cures harder, which matters on surfaces that get opened, wiped and knocked every day. Brushed cabinet paint is the single most common reason a DIY cabinet job looks like a DIY cabinet job.
Do you do the work in Spanish?
Yes. Hablamos español — the entire job, from the quote to the final walkthrough, can be done in Spanish.
